I have been fascinated with the past all my life. Although time travel is not possible (at least, as far as I know), we can still experience it through what I call "relics of the fourth dimension." Namely, as the old saying goes, "time marches on." We can't travel in the fourth dimension, except going forward in the present, but we can follow the trail of the fourth dimension. Along the way, people lose or discard items from their being. These relics are unintentional time capsules that give us as glimpse into their lives. Here on The Time Searchers blog, I will show some relics of the past that I have run across in our present. Sometimes when I am out on a relic hunt with the Colonial Relic Hunter, we know that we are not alone. There is more than just relics at these historical sites. Indeed, it could be said that there is a portal to the past, perhaps to another dimension, where that which once was, still is. A place where the real consorts with the shadows; the present fuses with the past, on Time Searchers: Ghost Relics.

GERMAN BINOCULARS 1944 US GI'S WAR BOOTY

HERE'S A PHOTO OF A PAIR OF WORLD WAR TWO GERMAN BINOCULARS CAPTURED BY AN AMERICAN GI IN 1944.  I AM ALWAYS AMAZED AT THE AMOUNT OF WAR BOOTY THAT THE US GI SOLDIERS BROUGHT BACK TO THE STATES.  THIS TYPE OF BINOCULARS WERE COMMONLY USED BY GERMAN INFANTRY.-THE TIME SEARCHER

1770'S COLONIAL ERA LIGHTING ROD SET

HERE'S A FIND THAT I MADE OVER THE LAST WEEKEND.  NOT ONE BUT TWO COLONIAL ERA LIGHTING RODS.  PEOPLE FROM THAT ERA WERE FASCINATED WITH ELECTRICITY.  ESPECIALLY, I WOULD IMAGINE AFTER BEN FRANKLIN'S WRITINGS ON HIS ELECTRICITY EXPERIMENTS.  THE RODS WOULD BE MOUNTED ON A SOLID SUPPORT LIKE A FENCE POST OR SOLID STONE WALL AND IT WOULD ATTRACT LIGHTING BOLTS.  I AM SURE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN QUITE A SHOW.  I JUST WOULDN'T WANT TO BE STANDING NEARBY.-THE TIME SEARCHER

Dial from 1930' Clock face gasoline (petrol) pump

Here's a dial face from a 1930's gasoline pump that I found over the last weekend.  This type of dial face was used on gasoline pumps for a time in the 1930's before the conventional square faces you see on alot of 1940's gasoline pumps.  I love these old auto related items when I find them.-The
