I have been fascinated with the past all my life. Although time travel is not possible (at least, as far as I know), we can still experience it through what I call "relics of the fourth dimension." Namely, as the old saying goes, "time marches on." We can't travel in the fourth dimension, except going forward in the present, but we can follow the trail of the fourth dimension. Along the way, people lose or discard items from their being. These relics are unintentional time capsules that give us as glimpse into their lives. Here on The Time Searchers blog, I will show some relics of the past that I have run across in our present. Sometimes when I am out on a relic hunt with the Colonial Relic Hunter, we know that we are not alone. There is more than just relics at these historical sites. Indeed, it could be said that there is a portal to the past, perhaps to another dimension, where that which once was, still is. A place where the real consorts with the shadows; the present fuses with the past, on Time Searchers: Ghost Relics.

1770's British Lion Livery Button Found at the Lost Colonial Village.

Here's a 1770's British Lion Livery Button that I found at the Lost Colonial Village.  Livery stables were important in the colonial times here in North America.  Horses were the mode of transportation for these early settlers.  The horseless carriage (automobiles) were over a hundred years into the future.  This button is an nice example.  It featured a gilt finish with the full image of a lion.  These buttons usually had an animal or crown on it.  The buttons were on livery uniform jackets worn by carriage drivers or horsemen.  This button find will be part of an upcoming Time Searchers video on the billtherelic youtube channel on youtube.-The Time Searcher.

FUNNY AS A CRUTCH-A SET OF CIVIL WAR ERA CRUTCHES

Here's a photo of a set of civil war era crutches that I picked up with some other civil war items.  As you can see, the medical equipment was not as good as what we have today.  A lot of veterans of the American Civil war lost arms and legs.  Indeed, a bullet in the leg or arm usually involved having a surgeon cut it off with only whiskey as a pain relief for the patient.  Less than sterile conditions resulted in loss of limbs that the actual wounding did not.  You have to admire the courage and dedication that the soldiers in the civil war had when you go out and relic hunt looking for these items of the past.-The Time Searcher.

THE SNICKERS BAR FOR RELIC HUNTERS: A GOLD GILT COLONIAL BUTTON FOUND METAL DETECTING

O.K. Let's get back to relic hunting.  Here's a video clip where I find a gold gilt colonial button.
For the snicker's bar reference, you have to watch the video.  This video is a preview of our fall relic hunting adventures at the Lost Colonial Village.  The Colonial relic hunter again proves himself as a metal detecting ace with his great finds as you shall see in the coming weeks.  This spring will be a great time.  We have added new equipment and ideas for our expeditions that we hope will be the right mix for great finds for relics and paranormal investigations. -The Time Searcher

GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM-DAVID BOWIE

I got up this morning and heard the bad news that David Bowie had passed away.  He was an artist that had written and performed many songs that been the sound track for our lives.  David Bowie had come up from a modest background.  My favorite story about him was that in the 1960's when he was starting out that he would go into the dustbins (trash dumpsters) behind the clothing stores on Carnaby Street in London and salvage brand new designer clothes that had been thrown out because of a missing button or some other minor defect.  He then would be wearing the latest gear at no cost to him. Don't try this today, you probably would be arrested.  I know that the  Colonial Relic hunter liked his work (even though he was a Mod. For those of you who don't know, the Colonial Relic Hunter is a Rocker, who actually fought the Mods.) since we would joke around singing his Major Tom song out during our relic hunts.
Thanks David, we won't forget you and you will live on in your songs.-The Time Searcher.

"TEAM ZISSOU" JEEP JOINS THE TIME SEARCHERS

HERE' A LITTLE VIDEO CLIP OF AN OLD JEEP THAT I PICKED UP ALONG WITH SOME OTHER ITEMS.  SOMEONE HAD PUT "TEAM ZISSOU" INSIGNIA'S FROM THE MOVIE "THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU" ON IT. I DON'T THINK ITS FROM THE FILM PRODUCTION.   THE COLONIAL RELIC HUNTER HAD WANTED ME TO ADD A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TO OUR EQUIPMENT INVENTORY.  SO, I WAS GLAD THAT I COULD HONOR THIS REQUEST.-THE TIME SEARCHER
