I have been fascinated with the past all my life. Although time travel is not possible (at least, as far as I know), we can still experience it through what I call "relics of the fourth dimension." Namely, as the old saying goes, "time marches on." We can't travel in the fourth dimension, except going forward in the present, but we can follow the trail of the fourth dimension. Along the way, people lose or discard items from their being. These relics are unintentional time capsules that give us as glimpse into their lives. Here on The Time Searchers blog, I will show some relics of the past that I have run across in our present. Sometimes when I am out on a relic hunt with the Colonial Relic Hunter, we know that we are not alone. There is more than just relics at these historical sites. Indeed, it could be said that there is a portal to the past, perhaps to another dimension, where that which once was, still is. A place where the real consorts with the shadows; the present fuses with the past, on Time Searchers: Ghost Relics.

MERRY CHRISTMAS-ERROL FLYNN-THE GREAT ADVENTURER IN MOVIES AND REAL LIFE

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE.  I HAVE BEEN BUSY LATELY AND IT WAS A GREAT PLEASURE TO HAVE SOME DOWN TIME THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND TO RELAX.  I WAS GOING THROUGH MY MOVIE COLLECTION AND STARTED WATCHING ERROL FLYNN MOVIES.  I HAD ALWAYS WANTED TO DO A BLOG SPOT ON HIM AND THOUGHT THAT THIS TIME WAS AS GOOD AS ANY.  FLYNN WAS ALWAYS ONE OF MY FAVORITES FROM MY EARLY DAYS WATCHING THE LATE SHOW MOVIES ON A SMALL BLACK AND WHITE TV SET AS A SMALL KID.
HE WAS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A TRUE SWASHBUCKLER, ADVENTURER AND I THINK HE WOULD HAVE MADE A GREAT TREASURE HUNTER.  HE WAS A WARNER BROS. FILM STAR IN THE 1930'S TO THE END OF HIS STUDIO CONTRACT IN THE EARLY 1950'S WHEN WARNER BROS. WAS LETTING GO OF THEIR TOP STARS TO CUT COSTS WITH THE ADVENT OF TELEVISION AND THE END OF THE STUDIO SYSTEM.  I WAS GLAD TO FIND OUT THAT HE LEAD A LIFE OF ADVENTURE IN REAL LIFE, A TRIP TO WAR TORN SPAIN IN THE 1930'S TO HIS PLAYBOY LIFE IN HOLLYWOOD.  ONE LESSON TO BE LEARNED FROM ERROL FLYNN IS NOT TO GO OVERBOARD.  AS MUCH AS I LIKE ERROL FLYNN, HE DRANK TOO MUCH, HE WENT THROUGH THREE DIVORCES THAT COST HIM A FORTUNE AND SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY.  IN THE END, HE DIED TOO YOUNG AND DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY HE SHOULD HAVE.  HE DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF HIMSELF AND LET OTHER PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM.   DESPITE HIS FAULTS, HE WAS MORE THAN JUST A GREAT ACTOR, HE HAD REAL PRESENCE AND PERSONALITY.  SOMETHING LACKING IN TODAY'S ACTORS.  UNFORTUNATELY, THEY DON'T MAKE HIS SWASHBUCKLER TYPE FILMS TODAY.  HE DEFINITELY WAS A ONE OF KIND  ADVENTURER.  PICTURED IS A 1942 AUTOGRAPHED PHOTOGRAPH THAT I ADDED TO THE TIME SEARCHER ARCHIVES A FEW YEARS AGO.  ALSO, I SHOW MY COPY OF DON JUAN.  A FILM THAT I BELIEVE SUMS ERROL FLYNN UP.-A SKILLED ADVENTURER WITH A TRUE LOVE OF LIFE.....  AND WOMEN.-THE TIME SEARCHER.

A BIG THRILL-A 1770'S US MARKED REVOLUTIONARY WAR CONTINENTAL ARMY SPADE RELIC SHOVEL DUG UP AT THE LOST COLONIAL VILLAGE

HERE'S A GREAT FIND THAT I MADE TODAY AT THE LOST COLONIAL VILLAGE.  A LOUD CLEAR SIGNAL, DOWN 16 INCHES: A SHOVEL.  I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS  A CIVILIAN COLONIAL ERA SHOVEL.  I WAS SHOCKED WHEN THE COLONIAL RELIC HUNTER WASHED IT OFF AND A US STAMP WAS REVEALED.  THIS WAS ONE OF OUR NATION'S FIRST  ARMY SHOVELS.  IT HAS A UNIQUE TWO PIECE CONSTRUCTION.  A GREAT FIND FROM THE TWILIGHT ZONE THAT WE CALL THE LOST COLONIAL VILLAGE. -THE TIME SEARCHER.

HUGH HEFFNER TRIBUTE-A MAN WHO LIVED THE DREAM.

IT'S BEEN A BUSY WEEK AND I WAS VERY SADDENED TO HEAR THAT ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ROLE MODELS, HUGH HEFFNER PASSED AWAY.  HE WAS A GUY THAT REALIZED THAT LIFE SHOULD BE LIVED ENJOYING THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE.  I LOVE THE DOCUMENTARIES ON HIM. HE TOLD HOW HE FOUND HIMSELF IN A DRAB LIFE IN A MARRIAGE THAT HE DIDN'T ENJOY ANYMORE.  HE REALIZED THAT HE HAD TO LIVE HIS DREAMS.  AND UNLIKE MOST, HE ACTUALLY WENT OUT AND DID LIVE HIS DREAMS.  CALL HIM WHAT YOU MAY AND SOME HAVE OVER THE YEARS, HE WAS COOL GUY WHO BUILT AN EMPIRE FOR HIMSELF.  IN HIS LATER YEARS, PLAYBOY SEEMED TAME AND SUBSCRIBERS DROPPED OFF.  HE LATER SOLD OUT PLAYBOY AND PART OF THE DEAL WAS THAT HE WOULD CONTINUE TO LIVE IN THE MANSION.  THE ABOVE LINK IS TO PART ONE OF A SHOW HE PRODUCED IN 1959, PLAYBOY'S PENTHOUSE.  I LIKE THIS PERIOD THE BEST BECAUSE IT MARKED THE RISE OF THE PLAYBOY EMPIRE WITH THE CLUBS AND CASINOS.  HEFF WOULD DRESS IN THE BEST SUITS AND DRIVE THE BEST CARS.  PLAYBOY WAS NOT JUST SOME STAG MAGAZINE.  IT WAS A LIFESTYLE OF STYLE, ELEGHENCE AND ENJOYING THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE.  HE LIVED THE AMERICAN DREAM.   HEFF, WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU AND YOU STILL INSPIRE US.-THE TIME SEARCHER.

STONEHENGE FRAUD-WHAT THEY NEVER TELL ABOUT STONEHENGE

HERE'S A LINK TO A VIDEO THAT I RAN ACROSS REGARDING THE FAMOUS STONEHENGE SITE.  THERE HAS BEEN EXTENSIVE SO-CALLED "RESTORATION" IN THE 20TH CENTURY THAT THE BRITISH AUTHORITIES  NEVER MENTION IN THEIR LITERATURE ON THIS TOURIST ATTRACTION.  WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS IS THAT STONEHENGE MIGHT NOT HAVE LOOKED LIKE IT LOOKS LIKE NOW.  YOU HAVE TO ALWAYS BE CAREFUL AND NOT ALWAYS TAKE ONE SOURCE AS THE GOSPEL IN RESEARCHING HISTORY. -THE TIME SEARCHER

World War Two United States Bayonet-Relic Find

Here's a relic condition United States Military Bayonet from World War Two.  This item was found on one of our relic hunts.  No, we were not on a World War Two site.  We were at a colonial era site. After World War Two, large numbers of veterans brought equipment home.  Also, we had army surplus stores that had some amazing items that sold World War Two surplus in the 1940's into the 1960's.  Alot of hunters used this equipment in the woods of America in their quest for a successful hunt.  Surplus rifles, knives, field equipment was used.  I believe this bayonet was used and lost by a hunter.  This find really wet our appetite to do some World War Two hunting.-The Time Searcher.
